Paula and Jan Kortright Conservation Wedding
Paula and Jan were married at Kortright Centre for Conservation which just so happens to be the venue where I was married. So that definitely makes it one of my favourite venues. It is so beautiful to be surrounded by nature on your wedding day.
Paula and Jan are a Tinder success story which I am hearing more of lately. This makes my heart swell because I am such a hopeless romantic. Jan and his family are from Germany and so they made sure to include German traditions into the ceremony. The log cutting was something I had never seen before but instantly loved. The idea is that cutting a big log together immediately after the ceremony is the first obstacle the couple will face together. Plus Paula looked so badass wielding a saw in her wedding gown.
Paula and Jan are also weather wizards. When we shot their engagement session it was a dark and rainy day but the rain stayed away just for them. And on their wedding the weather couldnβt have been more perfect. Iβm convinced they had something to do with that.
Each detail at their reception was so cute. Like the tiny little Nutella jars and the amazing cake created by Cakelaine which if you look closely was covered in little floral imprints. But what was really beautiful about their reception was all of the friends and family who had come so far to celebrate with them. Many of them all the way from Germany. Paula and Jan made sure there was no shortage of laughter. I have never at any wedding seen guests play Walla Balla. Some with more success than others.
One of the things I love about Kortright is the beautiful string light patio that ends the night with tons of dancing, fun and laughter. There is no better way to end a wedding than that.
